Who We Are

Liberty is a clothes recycling social enterprise and charity that provides people affected by drug and alcohol use with the stability, work experience, skills and confidence needed to move into mainstream employment, training and education, all within a supportive work environment.

  • Overview

    Liberty is a non-profit organization that funds rehabilitation services and provides (DSP) Department of Social Protection sponsored training for people affected by drug use. It is a registered charity employing over sixty-five people in a social enterprise recycling used textiles, mainly clothing and footwear. Liberty's provides practical work experience in a real working environment. It is also a Fetac quality assured and accredited training centre offering up to ten Fetac courses in-house and a range of external courses including forklift operation.

  • Objectives

    Liberty Recycling aims to be a model social enterprise progressing people affected by drugs and alcohol into mainstream opportunities drug free.

  • Background

    Liberty Recycling has its roots in the traditional clothes markets in the Liberties in Dublin. This tradition was harnessed to develop a training and employment initiative to assist people in the local community affected by drugs. Initially set up under Merchants Quay Ireland with 8 people Liberty Recycling is now an independent company with charitable status employing over 65 people.

    Over the five-year period to 2010 Liberty Recycling progressed 59 people into employment and a further 14 into mainstream education or training. Meet our team.
